Which Siser Printable is Right for You?

Printable vinyl is a great way to add full color customization to your products without all the inlay and layering that come with regular vinyl when trying to produce a full color image on a garment. Maybe you have just purchased your wide format printer (popular brands include Roland, Mutoh, and Mimaki) and are on the hunt for the perfect printable vinyl for the job or you're a seasoned veteran looking for something new. Printable vinyl can be a jungle so let us be your guide! In this blog we will go over the different options in the Siser Printable family and talk about what skill level these will work best with, printer compatibility, and other material features.

ColorPrint Easy

Experience Level: Beginner

Finish: Semi-gloss

ColorPrint Easy is a great material to use to get started with printable vinyl! It is approximately the same thickness as your trusty EasyWeed, 80 microns, making it easy to cut, weed, and mask. ColorPrint PU

Experience Level: Beginner

Finish: Gloss or Matte

Ink Compatibility: Solvent, Eco-Solvent & Latex

Mask Recommendation: TTD Easy Mask or TTD High Tack Mask

Material Compatibility: 100% Cotton and Un-Coated Polyester, Poly/Cotton Blends, Lycra, Spandex, & Leather

Widths Available: 14.5" (matte only), 20", 30", 59"

ColorPrint PU comes in two finishes, gloss or matte and is just a bit thinner than ColorPrint Easy coming in at 70 microns. This material is compatible with Solvent, Eco-Solvent and Latex inks making it a bit more versatile than its sister material ColorPrint Easy. It also has a bit more stretch and give which means we recommend using the “grip and rip” method when masking. Siser S-Print

Experience Level: Advanced/Expert

Finish: Matte

Ink Compatibility: Solvent, Eco-Solvent & Latex

Material Compatibility: 100% Cotton and Un-Coated Polyester, Poly/Cotton Blends

Widths Available: 20", 29.5", 54"

S-Print is one of the thinnest printables we carry at 85 microns. This makes it feel amazing on a shirt but also makes it notoriously difficult to work with which is why we recommend this material only to seasoned veterans in the printable world. We recommend using High Tack mask and also masking using the “grip and rip” method. This material is also CPSIA certified so you can decorate children’s garments with confidence! Siser Hi-5 Matte

Experience Level: Beginner

Finish: Matte

Ink Compatibility: Solvent, Eco-Solvent & Latex

Mask Recommendation: TTD Easy Mask or TTD High Tack Mask

Material Compatibility: 100% polyester, 100% cotton, Poly/Cotton Blends, Rayon, Polypropylene, test for other heat sensitive fabrics

Widths Available: 20", 29.5", 54", 59"

With application temperatures as low as 250 degrees F for only 5 seconds, this revolutionary low temperature vinyl is great for many different applications. It is just a bit thicker than EasyWeed at 100 microns but still has a soft hand that will look and feel great on your garments. This material does come with a static liner which makes masking a breeze.  However, since you can’t stick anything back down that may pick up while weeding, we don’t recommend super fine detail with this material. ColorPrint Sublithin

Experience Level: Beginner/Advanced-Beginner

Finish: Matte

Ink Compatibility: Solvent & Eco-Solvent

Mask Recommendation: TTD Easy Mask or TTD High Tack Mask

Material Compatibility: Polyester

Widths Available: 20", 29.5", 54", 59"

This is a specialty vinyl that is ideal for 100% polyester garments that are prone to dye migration that is 110 microns thick. A pressing temp of 265 degrees F and an opaque back reduce the risk of the dye from the shirt migrating into the printed transfer. ColorPrint Extra

Experience Level: Beginner

Finish: Gloss

Material Compatibility: Lightly Siliconed Nylon, Leather, 100% Cotton and Un-Coated Polyester, & Poly/Cotton Blends

Widths Available: 29.5", 54", 59"

Another specialty printable, this vinyl is specifically created for use on nylon. With a pressure sensitive carrier sheet and white base, it is perfect for those heat sensitive textiles such as nylon and leather. This would be a great material to use when customizing shoes, canvas, and tents. It is a bit thicker at 90 microns but is typically meant for outerwear and non-wearable items.
